Let's Grow - A Journey to Personal Development

At Guidion, we strongly believe in the power of personal growth. We know that the development of our employees not only helps them move forward, but also contributes to our joint success.

That is why we have been using the “Let's Grow” program for several years. This intensive four-day program, held at external locations, focuses on three key themes: “Me (k) and myself”, “Me and the other”, and “Me and my impact within Guidion”.

Recently, eight enthusiastic colleagues participated in this training. We spoke to three of them to find out what they thought about the program and what they learned. Share here Saskia (Expert Manager), Marijn (Jr. Data Analyst) and Esmee (People & Culture Officer) their personal experiences and insights.

Saskia: From Uncertainty to Positive Change

What were your expectations prior to the Let's Grow program?
“At first, I had some doubts. I thought it would mostly be about psychological conversations and was a little nervous about sharing personal stuff. During the intake, however, I discovered that the program focused on personal growth and that you didn't have to expose your whole life. It became clear that you had to be fully involved or not at all, and that 'trying' wasn't an option.”

How did your experiences during the program meet these expectations?
“The program exceeded my expectations. At first, I found it awkward, mostly because I got emotional and didn't want to show that, because I work with these people. But when others also showed their emotions, the atmosphere became much more relaxed and I felt more and more at ease. Aurélie and Lysanne supervised it very well. The group and guidance ensured that everyone became very close. In the end, my attitude went from “I'll try it” to “I'll go for it!” and the experience was far more positive than I expected!”

Marijn: Improved Team Dynamics and Personal Growth

How do you think the experiences of the Let's Grow program can influence the culture and collaboration within Guidion?
“The most surprising thing was how quickly and easily people you barely knew could make you feel at ease. The set up of the group and the guidance ensured that you quickly felt a connection with the rest of the participants, which quickly made the nerves disappear. The fact that the program was spread over several days gave the space to properly process everything that happened in one day, which was very valuable because
it could be quite intensive at times.”

How were you able to apply the insights and skills you've gained to your daily work?
“The insights I've gained mainly relate to my personal life, but I've also learned a lot at work. I've learned to stand behind my own views more strongly. Listening to others is important, but within a company, I'm now trying to stay true to myself. I make choices that make me feel good, without being influenced by fear of other people's opinions or the risk of stepping on someone's toes. The advice “treat others how you want to be treated” is now my guide, instead of just following other people's reactions.”

Esmée: Self-Discovery and Culture

How do you think the experiences of the Let's Grow program can influence the culture and collaboration within Guidion?
“The experiences in the Let's Grow program helped me get to know myself better, both as an individual and in collaboration with others. By recognizing and appreciating everyone's unique properties, I am convinced that this special mix gives Guidion its unique culture. The program offers great support to be able and allowed to be yourself. Very valuable!”

Would you recommend the Let's Grow program to your colleagues? Why or why not?
“I would absolutely recommend the Let's Grow program! It is special to get to know colleagues in a deeper way in a short period of four sessions. The combination of the group of participants and the guidance of the coaches (Lysanne and Aurélie) quickly created a
familiar atmosphere. While it can be exciting at first, I thought it was worth every minute!”
